Night Program

Our curriculum planning at night strikes a balance between extending children’s development and providing a warm, caring environment for children at the end of the day.

To help older children feel welcome and keen to come back we have resources for school aged children.

The evening night care routine includes fun experiences, dinner and supper, as well as sleeping in a cosy environment.

Bed times vary according to children’s home routines, and Friday nights are fun nights with a later bed time for the older children.

A variety of experiences are provided which are appropriate to:
*The time of day
*The age range of the children present
*The individual needs and interests of the children.

Some of the experiences include:
Clay and Playdough modelling, painting, pasting and drawing.
Construction with lego, duplo, mobilo and blocks.
Stories, songs and finger Plays, puppets.
Dolls, home corner, dress-ups.
Physical movement, dance and musical instruments
Board games, card games and special projects such as cooking or gardening.

The Evening Night team aim to ensure that each child's individual physical and emotional needs are met.
For example:
*Children are put to bed when tired.
*Children are given a snack when hungry.
*Staff are available when a child needs a cuddle.

The Evening/Night program is written fortnightly. The program is based on individual observations of regular children, routines, children's needs and interests. Experiences offered are interesting and appropriate to each individual's level of development/need.
Children who attend Evening Care on a regular basis will have their total developmental needs considered as part of the overall program.

The Program and other relevant information is displayed by the Evening/Night attendance sheets located by the office.
